“I don’t like to talk about rumors” - Liverpool star dismisses Real Madrid transfer links
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has said that he is 'happy and very comfortable' at Anfield, adding that he is not considering a move away from the club this summer. His comments come amid rumors of interest from Spanish and European champions Real Madrid.
Mac Allister was one of the Reds' best performers last season after signing from Brighton & Hove Albion in a reported €42 million deal. The 2022 World Cup winner contributed seven goals and seven assists in 46 games across competitions as the Merseysiders won the Carabao Cup.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were also among the challengers for the Premier League, FA Cup and the Europa League. However, they ran out of steam towards the business end of the season as they fell short of a historic quadruple.
Mac Allister’s performances have attracted admirers from a number of top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid, according to reports from Argentina. Responding to the rumors in an interview with TyC Sports (via Metro), Mac Allister said:
“Obviously with pride. As you say they are one of the biggest clubs in the world and one that I respect a lot but I said it the other day, I don’t like to talk about rumors.”
“Obviously, yes, if there is something that is real and they sit down and talk to Liverpool, I’ll talk about whatever. But in the meantime, I have a lot of respect for Liverpool. I’m very happy at Liverpool and I think that it shouldn’t give rise to those speculations,” he added.
Alexis Mac Allister reveals parting advice he received from outgoing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Former manager Jurgen Klopp advised Alexis Mac Allister to continue with the Merseyside giants, the Argentine midfielder has revealed. Mac Allister also said that Klopp wanted to spend more time with him.
In an interview with TyC Sports (via Metro), Mac Allister said:
“Klopp told me that I'm in the right club to grow. When he left, he gave me a hug and said it was a pity to share so little time together. I am happy and very comfortable at Liverpool.”
Klopp left Anfield this summer after a trophy-laden eight-and-a-half-year spell. The German helped the club win their first Premier League title in the 2019-20 season, which was their first top-flight crown in 30 years. They also won the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, two Carabao Cups and other numerous accolades.
Former Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been appointed as Klopp’s successor ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
