“I have no doubt” - Barcelona star backs Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr to win 2024 Ballon d'Or
Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez has tipped Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr to claim the Ballon d'Or award on Monday (October 28). The Brazilian is one of the favorites to claim the award after his fabulous campaign last year with Los Blancos.
Vinicius played 3,084 minutes across 39 games for his club last season, helping them to LaLiga and UEFA Champions League glory with 24 goals and 11 assists. Martinez hailed the Brazilian in a recent interview with MARCA, saying (via Barca Universal):
“Whoever wins, they deserve it. We all know that they will give it to Vinicius, I have no doubt. He is a great player. He continues to show it, the other day he showed it in the Champions League: he blew the lid off the game. I have no doubt that he will try to do it against us. Let’s hope that some of our players will be there in the next one and I have no doubt that Lamine will be able to be there soon.”
Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid will face Barcelona in the latest installment of El Classico today (October 26). The reigning champions will hope they can defeat the visiting table toppers on their turf and close the three-point gap between them in the league table.
The Brazilian has maintained his purple patch of form for Los Blancos this season, with eight goals and seven assists across 14 games.
"Vinicius will win the Ballon d'Or"- Real Madrid boss hails Vinicius Jr ahead of Barcelona clash
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has tipped Brazilian star Vinicius Jr to claim the 2024 Ballon d'Or. The Italian manager was complimentary of the forward in his press conference ahead of his side's clash with Barcelona in LaLiga.
The greatest individual award in football will be awarded by the France Football Magazine to crown the best player over the 12 months. Ancelotti was confident his mercurial forward would claim the prize, telling FootBoom:
"We can say that Vini will be the next Ballon d'Or, no doubt about it. Vinicius will win the Ballon d'Or, for me, it is very clear and there should be no one else winning,"
Vinicius Jr was phenomenal in midweek, bagging a hat-trick against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League as Real Madrid beat the German outfit 5-2.
