"I was fighting for my rights" - Kylian Mbappe claims he had 'problems with certain people' during his PSG stint

French superstar Kylian Mbappe claimed in a recent interview that he had issues with certain people at his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Mbappe left the French outfit as a free agent in the summer of 2024 to join La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Mbappe recorded incredible numbers during his seven years at PSG (2017-2024). After spending one season on loan from Monaco, he joined the club on a permanent transfer in 2018. In 308 outings for the Ligue 1 giants, Mbappe contributed 256 goals and 108 assists and remains the club's top goalscorer.

The Frenchman led the club to six Ligue 1 titles, four Coupe de France titles, and three Trophée des Champions titles, among others.

In an interview with French channel Clique TV, Kylian Mbappe opened up about having problems with certain people at the French outfit, saying (via Madrid Xtra):

"The club meant a lot to me. It's a club where everything is intense, whether it's good or bad. I spent 7 extraordinary years. At Paris, I had problems with certain people, because I was fighting for my rights. I should have shown more love to PSG fans, I never had a problem with them.”

Despite leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, Mbappe is reportedly involved in a legal dispute with his former club over alleged unpaid wages. According to ESPN, the French superstar is seeking around €55 million in wages and bonuses from the club.

In his aforementioned interview with Clique TV, Kylian Mbappe gave a clear response when asked if he would like to see his former club PSG lift a UEFA Champions League title. He said (via Madrid Xtra):

"Right now? No, I want to win with Madrid. But I wish them the best at PSG. I hope that one day they will win the Champions League. But not now, because I have to win a little (laughs)."

Paris Saint-Germain is yet to win a UEFA Champions League title. The closest they came to winning the tournament was when they reached the final against Bayern Munich in 2020. However, the French giants lost 1-0 to the Bundesliga giants with Kingsley Coman scoring the lone goal for Bayern (59').

However, Kylian Mbappe could win his first Champions League soon with Real Madrid, as the Spanish giants are known for being at their best in the tournament. Los Blancos hold a record 15 UEFA Champions League titles, with their latest coming in the 2023-24 season.
