“I’ll flip a coin on this one” - Alan Shearer predicts who will win ‘tough game’ between Bournemouth and Chelsea

Football pundit and former striker Alan Shearer has shared his prediction for Chelsea's clash against Bournemouth on Saturday (September 14) at the Vitality Stadium in Kings Park. The Premier League is back after the international break and the upcoming weekend has some blockbuster clashes in store.

Both teams have had topsy-turvy starts to their Premier League campaigns. The Blues are placed at number 11 on the league table with a win, a loss, and a draw each in their first three games. Meanwhile, Bournemouth are eighth with two draws and a win. Andoni Iraola's side are yet to taste defeat in the Premier League this season.

Sharing his prediction on Metro, Alan Shearer acknowledged the potential of the Blues despite an inconsistent start under Enzo Maresca. Although unsure of the result, Shearer sided with a win for The Blues.

"We all look at Chelsea and think what on earth is going on. They get one good result and then a not so good one. We know they have the players and ability to win this game though," he said.
"This is a tough game to call because Bournemouth have started well, played really well here vs Newcastle a few weeks ago and despite not playing well at Everton, somehow managed to win it. I’ll flip a coin on this one and go for an away win," Shearer added.

Past statistics also predict a win for Enzo Maresca's side. They have won 14 out of the 21 games played between the two sides. Meanwhile, The Cherries have won just five.

In the Premier League, Chelsea have lost just one of their seven matches against Bournemouth away from home. Talking about away games, the west London side have won each of their last three games - their longest away run since April 2022.

Meanwhile, table toppers Manchester City also have 18 shots on target in 48 attempts — an accuracy rate of 37.5%. Tottenham Hotspur boast a shot accuracy percentage of 41.6% (20 out of 48 shots) while Manchester United have managed only 12 shots on target out of an attempted 33 (an accuracy rate of 36.36%).
