“I’m happy with what I did” - Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal teammate reflects positively on Euro 2024 despite quarter-final exit
Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal teammate, Nelson Semedo looks back positively on his Euro 2024 campaign. The Wolverhampton Wanderers defender and his compatriots made it to the quarter-final of the European Championships in Germany this summer, where they lost to France.
The 30-year-old defender came on as a substitute in every game. Speaking to the in-house media at Wolves, Semedo shared that he was proud to represent his country despite not winning the tournament, saying:
“The Euros were really nice. I’m always proud to represent my country, especially in a tournament like that one, so it was nice to share the pitch, to share good moments with my teammates, but I’m focused on Wolves now and I’m ready to go."
He concluded, saying:
“I played every single game, so it was nice to be called up to play. It’s pay off to your work. I’m happy with what I did, but I’m especially happy about what the team did and hopefully we carry on like this.”
Semedo's Portugal teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo played in his final European Championships at Euro 2024. Despite being a prolific goalscorer, he failed to find the back of the net in this edition of the competition he won in 2016.
