“I’m doing it a lot more for this season” - Manchester United winger Antony explains how he wants to achieve objectives in the new campaign

Manchester United star Antony has detailed his objectives for the 2024-25 Premier League campaign. The Brazilian insists that his output will improve next season.

The Red Devils signed Antony from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for a reported €100 million fee. Antony has failed to impress so far for Erik ten Hag's side and has received criticism for his performances, given the substantial sum spent to secure his services.

The 24-year-old has scored just 11 goals in 82 games for Manchester United since his arrival. However, despite his underwhelming form over the past two seasons, Antony insists that he will turn things around next campaign.

During an interview with the Daily Mail, he said:

"I have a lot of objectives, ones I write down for myself and many for this new season. I haven't been doing this for that long, but I'm doing it a lot more for this season. I have to do it for every game.
"Always on paper, in my house. I usually take the notes with me but if I leave them at home, I'll always ask my wife to send me a photo of them."

The former Ajax winger added:

"There are a lot of things I note down in detail: how many shots I should be making in a game, I can't lose the ball, I need to score goals and create assists, pass and dribble completions as well as defensive performance, more work on the right foot. I have a lot of objectives.
"Rest assured, you'll hear the name Antony in relation to goals and assists."

Manchester United will face Fulham in their opening fixture of the 2024-25 Premier League season on August 16.

"I think we are in a good position" - Ten Hag issues statement on Manchester United's transfer plans

Erik ten Hag has offered a coy update on Manchester United's plans for the remainder of the summer transfer window. The Dutch boss has called for patience regarding the announcement of any more signings.

The Red Devils have made two signings so far this summer. They've signed Leny Yoro from Lille for a reported £52 million fee and Joshue Zirkzee from Bologna for £36 million.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have seen multiple departures this window, including Mason Greenwood, Donny van de Beek, Raphael Varane, and Anthony Martial, amongst others.

Speaking to reporters about the club's transfer business, Ten Hag said (via GOAL):

"When we have news, we will announce it. You see the market is quite quiet still but we have done our business, we have done two deals. It is about timings and it is about the market options and [ensuring] in the right moment we do the right things.
"I don't go into details about where we are now with recruitment and what we are working on. We know what we are doing and I think we are in a good position with the squad. For you, just wait, be patient and at the right moment, we will tell you."
