"I'm sure we'll cry together with joy again" - Barcelona superstar sends message to Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal after his ACL injury

Barcelona midfielder Pedri shared an Instagram message for his Spain teammate Dani Carvajal, who suffered an ACL rupture, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. Real Madrid have confirmed that the defender will undergo surgery.

Sending a note to Carvajal, Pedri wrote in his Instagram story (translated to English from Spanish):

"Lots of strength bro. I'm sure we'll cry together with joy again.”

Dani Carvajal suffered a devastating injury during Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Villarreal in La Liga on October 5. After a collision with Villarreal's Yeremy Pino, the defender was taken off on a stretcher and was in tears.

The club mentioned in their statement that he suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, a ruptured external collateral ligament and a ruptured popliteus tendon in his right leg.

Post the 2020-21 season, Pedri himself has suffered quite a few injuries. The extent was such that the club reportedly decided to do a genetic analysis of his muscles (via GOAL). Thus Pedri can relate to the emotional stress Dani Carvajal will go through during his injury and rehabilitation phase.

Real Madrid's season so far and other injury woes

Not only Dani Carvajal, but Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr also suffered an injury during Real Madrid's La Liga outing against Villarreal. Vinicius has pain in his neck and will undergo tests regarding the same, as confirmed by manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Real Madrid currently sit second in the La Liga table. Los Blancos are three points behind table toppers Barcelona, having played the same number of matches.

Ancelotti's side are one of the only two sides yet to suffer a defeat in the league this term. Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid are the other team.

In the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid started their campaign on a strong note. In their first group stage fixture, they defeated VfB Stuttgart 3-1. However, in the second encounter, they went down to LOSC Lille 1-0.

After the international break, Real Madrid will be back in action in La Liga against Celta Vigo on October 19. Following that fixture, they will take on Barcelona in El Clasico on October 26. In between these two fixtures, they will face Borussia Dortmund in the continental competition.
