“I’m sure he will be top of the list” - Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool could sign 27-year-old Premier League star in January
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes the Reds will look to sign Antonee Robinson in January. He heaped praise on the Fulham man and said he will be on the Merseysiders' radar.
Arne Slot has two left-backs at his disposal - Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. However, both have failed to impress this season, especially in defense. Robertson has made 22 appearances across competitions, providing an assist while Tsimikas has made 12 appearances, also contributing an assist.
Hence, reports suggest that the Reds are in the market for a left-back as they look to continue their march towards the Premier League title. Ahead of their clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Jamie Carragher spoke about Robinson and his performance against Liverpool.
“He was outstanding [against Liverpool]," he said (via ECHO). He was the best player on the pitch. When you are going to Anfield and you are playing against Mohamed Salah – possibly the best player in the Premier League this season – and you come out of it with a Man of the Match award, that shows you how highly he is thought of.
"Yes, I think Liverpool probably will be shopping for a left-back in January and I’m sure he will be top of the list.”
Robinson has been one of the best fullbacks in the Premier League this season. He's provided six assists in 17 games, the most by a defender.
Liverpool continue their brilliant run with an enthralling win over Tottenham
Liverpool came into the game against Tottenham on Sunday on the back of a 20-game unbeaten streak across competitions and extended it further. They had an excellent start as Luis Diaz (23') opened the scoring via a brilliant Trent Alexander-Arnold cross. Alexis Mac Allister (36') made it 2-0 before James Maddison (41') reduced Spurs' deficit.
Dominik Szoboszlai (45+1'), however, made it 3-1 before halftime. The Reds started the second half well as Mohamed Salah (54', 61') netted a brace to make it 5-1. Dejan Kulusevski (72') and Dominic Solanke (83') did some damage repair for Tottenham but Diaz (85') completed an enthralling 6-3 win for the visitors.
The Reds remained at the top of the Premier League table with the win, sitting four points above second-placed Chelsea with a game in hand. They will next host Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day (December 26).
Tottenham, meanwhile, are 11th in the table, five points behind fifth-placed Bournemouth. They will face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Boxing Day.
