"I never knew Luis Suarez was such a good actor" - Lionel Messi makes hilarious comment on social media as Inter Miami teammate stars in advert
Argentina captain Lionel Messi has expressed his amusement at Inter Miami teammate Luis Suarez's recent appearance in a TV advert. The Uruguay international appeared in an advert for Copa America sponsor Michelob Ultra ahead of the tournament.
Suarez moved to Inter Miami in January, having spent time in Brazil with Gremio. The 37-year-old secured a reunion with close friend Messi, with whom he formed a deadly strike partnership in their days together at the Nou Camp.
In the Michelob Ultra advert, different fans asked Suarez for tickets to watch Messi at the Copa America. The former Liverpool star's acting drew laughter from the Argentine forward, who posted the advert on his Instagram page and stated that he didn't know his teammate could act.
"😂😂I never knew @luissuarez9 was such a good actor!🎬👏"
Lionel Messi has lit up the MLS alongside Luis Suarez, with each of them scoring 12 goals to help Inter Miami sit atop the Eastern Conference standings. Both men will be sorely missed by their club, as they were both invited for the 2024 Copa America by their respective countries.
Suarez was named in Marcelo Bielsa's La Celeste squad for the tournament this summer, and he will have a chance to extend his national record of 68 goals in 138 appearances. The experienced striker has proven that he can still find the back of the net with a variety of finishes, hence his inclusion in the squad.
Messi will lead the world champions in the tournament in the USA as they look to win a third major international trophy in succession. His Argentina side are favorites for the title and could become the first side since Chile in 2016 to retain the championship.
Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez set for new teammate as club enters talks with World Cup winner
Inter Miami may soon have a new defender as talks have commenced between the club and representatives of French defender Raphael Varane over a move. The Herons are in search of central defensive cover, and they have turned their attention to Europe once more.
Inter Miami have actively recruited from Europe, with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba all moving there directly from Europe. Luis Suarez is the only of their big names to not be signed from Europe, as he had already moved to Brazil.
TEAMTalk reports that Varane is on the radar of the club, who need a new defender after Nicolas Freire injured his knee last month. The Frenchman is a free agent, having agreed to leave Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of the 2023-24 season.
