“I often say this to him” - Cedric names Arsenal player who is ‘similar’ to Manchester City superstar Bernardo Silva
Ex-Arsenal defender Cedric Soares has revealed which of his former teammates in north London is most like Manchester City star Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese defender believes compatriot Fabio Viera is cut from the same cloth as the City midfielder who he has shared the pitch for the Selecao with.
Cedric spoke with Tribal Football about a host of issues and found time to praise the Gunners midfielder, saying:
"How does Bernardo Silva, with his physique, make the difference he makes in the Premier League? Because he adapts his characteristics very well to the game. He thinks ahead of others, at all times. I often say this to Fábio [Vieira] because they're players I think are similar, similar quality, both left-footed,"
Cedric had been on the fringes of the Arsenal team in recent seasons and is currently a free agent after his contract with the club expired. The former Southampton defender has only made nine appearances for the Gunners in the last two years.
Fabio Viera has also not enjoyed a lot of game time for the Gunners recently. The 23-year-old made only 16 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign. He will need more game time if he is to match the lofty heights Bernardo Silva reached in his career.
Reported Arsenal target addresses rumors of potential move
Reported Arsenal and Liverpool target Justin Bijlow has addressed the rumors concerning a potential move this summer in a recent interview.
The Dutch goalkeeper has not closed the door on a potential move to either club this summer and his statements will have both English sides on high alert if they intend to sign him in the coming weeks.
Speaking with The Mirror, Bijlow said:
"Will I stay at Feyenoord? You never know, do you? That's football, you never know that, I'm ambitious, I've always said that. If the opportunity presents itself and a good club comes from abroad, I am open to it."
"Those are two very nice clubs. Of course, it is always nice to be mentioned at big clubs. As I said, I'm ambitious. As long as I play for Feyenoord I will give everything for that and first I just want to focus on the Dutch team."
Arsenal will look to bring in the Dutchman as a potential backup to David Raya, with Aaron Ramsdale tipped with a move away from the Emirates to establish himself as a number one somewhere else.
Liverpool are also keen on Bijlow as cover for Alisson Becker, with the shot-stopper sharing a close relationship with newly appointed manager Arne Slot, who managed him at Feynoord.
