“I ran outside" - David Beckham opens up on 'ultimate moment' with Real Madrid icon Zinedine Zidane after latter’s last training session

England and Manchester United legend David Beckham shared his 'ultimate moment' with France icon Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid. The duo played alongside each other for Los Blancos between 2003 and 2006 in the Galactico era.

The Englishman joined the Spanish giants in 2003 from Manchester United and stayed with them for four years, leaving in 2007 to join LA Galaxy in the MLS. The Frenchman joined in 2001 from Juventus and retired in 2006 after the FIFA World Cup in Germany.

Speaking on the First We Feast YouTube channel, Beckham reminisced about his ultimate moment with Zidane, saying:

“I think the ultimate moment with me and Zizou has to be the last training session before his last game I’m sat in the changer room and he walks in and I’m sat there I’m getting changed and he all of a sudden I see him out the corner of my eye getting up and he’s walking towards me and I’m like, I start sweating.”

The Englishman concluded, saying:

“And Zizou doesn’t say much, you know, he’s a man of, you know, few words. He sits down and he said, David, I just want to say it’s been a pleasure playing with you for the last few years.
“And I was like... I literally... He then went in to get treatment and I jumped up, I ran outside, I took my phone and I was like... A couple of my mates I said you’re never gonna guess what just happened I called my dad I was like that Zizou just said this to me so that has to be that has to be the moment.”

David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane won the Spanish Super Cup together at Real Madrid in the Englishman's first season with the Madrid-based club.
