“I saw myself between life and death” - Barcelona star Lamine Yamal’s father speaks for the first time after being stabbed
Barcelona star Lamine Yamal's father Mounir Nasraoui shared his thoughts for the first time since being stabbed by an unknown group of people on Wednesday (August 14). Nasraoui is said to be stable now.
"I was scared. I saw myself between life and death. I'm better. They've transferred me to the ward," Nasraoui said. (via Barca Universal)
On August 14, Yamal's father was reportedly stabbed multiple times in a parking area in the neighbourhood of Mataro, north of Barcelona. The incident took place near the Rofaconda neighbourhood where Lamine Yamal spent his childhood.
Nasraoui was reportedly attacked by a group of people who he had spoken to earlier in the day, per reports from Spanish media. As per BBC, Catalan police arrested three suspects on Wednesday, while a fourth suspect was detained until the next morning.
Nasraoui was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but improved and is now said to be stable. He will be under observation in the hospital ward for two or three days despite his stable condition.
As per Spanish outlet El Pais, Mounir Nasraoui got involved in an argument with a group of people earlier on the same day while taking his dog out for a walk. Later, the same group of people approached him and stabbed him multiple times. The motive behind the reported incident is not known yet.

Mounir Nasraoui also shared an iconic image of Messi bathing a baby Yamal from his childhood, leading to many considering Yamal as Messi's successor at the club.
Lamine Yamal made his Barcelona debut for the first team under former coach Xavi in April 2023. The La Masia prodegy came on as a substitute for Gavi in the 83rd minute of Barca's La Liga clash with Real Betis.
