"I would see him as a good fit" - Ex-Napoli chief backs club to make audacious move for Manchester United star following Scott McTominay success

Former Napoli sporting director Pierpaolo Marino has backed the Italian giants to make an audacious move for Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford. This comes after Scott McTominay made the switch from Old Trafford to Partenopei, starting life in Italy with an impressive run of form.

Last season, Rashford scored just eight goals and provided just six assists in 43 games as a winger. He has struggled to find form at Old Trafford, but Pierpaolo Marino believes a change of environment might work wonders. Speaking about the Manchester United academy graduate, he told Radio Marte (via Tribal Football):

"(Giacomo) Raspadori out for Rashford in January? I would see it as a good deal, as an operation. (Giuliano) Simeone deserves to play more and carves out the spaces he can, but Raspadori must grow. Being able to sell a quality striker could give the possibility of starting negotiations in roles where competitiveness is less important."

Pierpaolo compared a move for Rashford to that of McTominay, adding:

"I would see Rashford as a good fit... Which of the summer purchases did I like the most? McTominay: if I said otherwise, I would be wrong. The Scotsman is the purchase that impressed me the most: I am convinced that he has very important room for growth. He is a driving force: we will see him even stronger than now."

Indeed, McTominay has already scored two goals and provided two assists in just eight games for Napoli from his position in midfield this season. This is similar to Marcus Rashford's presence in the final third, with the United winger scoring four goals and providing three assists in 15 games.

Marcus Rashford pleased with Manchester United new hire Ruben Amorim: Reports

Marcus Rashford is reportedly pleased about Manchester United's decision to hire Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, following Erik ten Hag's sacking. According to TeamTalk, the academy graduate believes that the Sporting CP boss will improve his form.

Rashford has notably struggled in recent years under Erik ten Hag's leadership. Aside from the 2022-23 season, when he scored 30 goals in all competitions, the 27-year-old has failed to meet expectations. He has also struggled with disciplinary issues while Ten Hag was manager.

The Dutch tactician was relieved of duty after the Red Devils ended the last Premier League gameweek in 14th place. They lost 2-1 to West Ham away from home at the London Stadium on October 27, and the next day, his position at the club was deemed untenable.

The club have quickly moved to sign Amorim, who will take over from Manchester United's interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy on November 11.
