“I tell him every day he should come to Chelsea!” - Marc Cucurella opens up on talks with Spain superstar in Euro 2024 camp

Marc Cucurella has admitted he's tried persuading Nico Wiliams to join Chelsea during their time together with Spain at Euro 2024. La Roja have been the stars of the show in Germany and are in Sunday's (June 14) final against England at the Olympiastadon Berlin.

Cucurella and Williams have wowed for Luis de la Fuente's side and been vital in their journey to the final. The latter has caught the eye with stunning performances on the left wing, posting one goal and one assist in five games.

The Athletic Bilbao attacker is being linked with several European giants as he continues to impress at club and international level. He's forged a close bond with Cucurella that the Chelsea left-back shed light on when speaking to The Athletic:

"Without doing too much in the camp, we have created a very good relationship with Nico and in the end, these sorts of players need to feel comfortable and important. What I tell Nico all the time is that he has to do his thing, create whatever goes through his mind, and I'll be covering his back or doing anything he needs me to."

Williams could be set for a big-money move this summer, and Stamford Bridge could be the destination. Cucurella admitted to trying to convince his fellow countryman of a move to the Blues:

"I tell him every day he should come to Chelsea, he would help us a lot! He is more than welcome and he knows that [laughs]. But he is so young, he has to decide by himself and with his people, so it's not time to put too many things in his head."

Chelsea are in pursuit of Williams but look set to fall short as things stand. Barcelona are reportedly leading the race and have already agreed on personal terms with the 19-cap Spain international.

Williams, 22, was in stunning form for Bilbao last season, registering eight goals and 19 assists in 37 games across competitions. He's expected to be a future megastar for Spain.

Spain has been the team to watch at Euro 2024, and Dani Olmo is another of their scintillating attackers who have impressed. The RB Leipzig attacking midfielder has posted three goals and two assists in five games in Germany.

Olmo, 26, has a £50 million release clause that expires on July 20. Several clubs have been considering triggering it. One of those was Chelsea, who are long-term admirers of the former Barcelona youngster.

However, GiveMeSport reporter Ben Jacobs reports that the Blues have decided against moving for Olmo. Barca, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich look the most likely options for the attacker shining at Euro 2024.

Chelsea have made several transfers this summer as they look to freshen up their attack. Spanish striker Marc Guiu arrived from the Blaugrana, and English midfielder Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall joined from Leicester City.
