"I don't think the 4-1 aggregate scoreline was a fair result" - Bayern Munich star shares thoughts on defeat to Barcelona

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has shared his thoughts following the 4-1 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League yesterday (Wednesday, October 23). The German stated that he doesn't think the scoreline was fair on his side.

Kimmich manned the center of the pitch as Bayern traveled to the Estadi Lluis Companys on Matchday 3. They were considered favorites by many due to their recent dominance in this fixture but it ended up being a disappointing outcome for them.

A sloppy start to the game from the Bavarians allowed the hosts to strike first blood via a Raphinha strike in the very first minute. Vincent Kompany's men managed to restore parity with Harry Kane's strike 17 minutes later. However, Robert Lewandowski (36') and Raphinha (45') both found the back of the net to keep the Catalans in control before the first-half whistle.

The Brazilian would later come back to complete his hat-trick in the second half (56') with a brilliant shot to secure a historic 4-1 triumph for Barcelona. However, Joshua Kimmich doesn't think the result was fair on the visitors.

"It was a very tough defeat. We started badly but then we managed to equalize and we were in control of the game until they scored the second goal, which I think was a foul on Kim," the Bayern Munich midfielder said in his post-match interview as quoted by Barca Universal.
“We lost a bit of patience and control. We made mistakes and Barcelona were able to break the pressure more easily, which led to the goals. I don’t think the 4-1 aggregate scoreline was a fair result considering how the game went, but we deserved to lose,” he added.

Barca have now beaten Bayern Munich for the first time in nine years. Before yesterday's face-off, their last victory came in the same competition during the 2014-15 season. Lionel Messi delivered a masterclass on that occasion that produced two goals and one assist to condemn the Bavarians to a 3-0 loss at Camp Nou.

Hansi Flick's Barcelona looking unstoppable this season

Barcelona appear to have finally found the final piece of their jigsaw puzzle this season with the appointment of Hansi Flick as their manager. The Catalan giants have been firing on all cylinders since the German arrived and for the first time in many years, they are sending shockwaves across Europe.

The victory over Bayern Munich was a huge statement, but that isn't all there is to this Blaugrana side. They've been the standout team in La Liga this season topping the table with 27 points in 10 games, scoring 33 goals and conceding just 10 in the process.

Up next, Flick's side have another massive encounter versus Real Madrid in the Spanish top flight this weekend. They will travel to the Santiago Bernabeu to face the champions in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday (October 26) and it promises to be yet another mouth-watering encounter.
