“I think I spelt it right, as well” - Paul Scholes on receiving special request from PAOK star after Manchester United win in Europa League

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes opened up about PAOK midfielder Magomed Ozdoev's request for an autograph after the Europa League encounter between the two sides on Thursday, November 7. The Red Devils played host to the Greek outfit at Old Trafford and bagged their first victory of the tournament this campaign, having drawn their first three fixtures.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's side secured a 2-0 win courtesy of a second-half brace from Amad Diallo. Bruno Fernandes sent in a dangerous cross from the left in the 50th minute and the Ivorian winger headed it into the back of the net to score the opener.

His second of the night came around a quarter of an hour later, but this time, the 22-year-old winger created it all on his own. Diallo did brilliantly to win the ball back after putting pressure on PAOK defender and former Chelsea man Baba Rahman.

The Ivory Coast international then produced an excellent left-footed finish from the edge of the box, securing all three points for Manchester United. After the game, Scholes was seen signing Magomed Ozdoev's jersey, which he subsequently revealed was done for the PAOK midfielder's father.

Speaking on TNT Sports, the Manchester United icon said:

"He did yeah! I wasn't sure he remembered me, it was such a long time ago. It was an autograph for his dad and I obliged. I think I spelt it right, as well!"

The Red Devils will next face Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday (November 10).

Paul Scholes names Manchester United star he was 'disappointed' in after display against PAOK

Paul Scholes has criticized Rasmus Hojlund's display against PAOK in the Europa League. The pundit admitted that he was disappointed by his weak performance.

Hojlund started the fixture and played almost the entire game before being subbed off for Joshua Zirkzee in the 90th minute. But the Manchester United forward struggled to make an impact on the match.

He registered just two shots and two touches in the opposition box. Speaking about the 21-year-old's performance after the game, Scholes said (via The Mirror):

"There was a little spell after Manchester United scored that PAOK looked a little dangerous but it was well controlled for the most part. I was a little disappointed in Rasmus Hojlund. I think he will improve and get better once he is coached by a coach that believes in him. I'm not saying Ruud [van Nistelrooy] doesn't believe in him.
"I think he had a little bit of a difficult night, it wasn’t his best night, but as you say, they had that bit where Bruno turns, he’s in the space and Rasmus makes that run. He can do that but it didn’t happen enough tonight for him.”
