"I think he'll surpass everyone" - Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane backs summer signing Kylian Mbappe to 'make history' at La Liga giants

Zinedine Zidane has backed Kylian Mbappe to create history at Real Madrid following his compatriot's much-anticipated switch to the club. Mbappe has joined Los Blancos on a free transfer after the expiry of his deal at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Real Madrid announced the signing of the French superstar last month and he was unveiled in front of 80 thousand fans at the Santiago Bernabeu this week. Mbappe has reportedly received €125 million as a signing-on bonus and has signed a five-year deal at the Spanish capital club.

Kylian Mbappe's compatriot France and Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has backed the 25-year-old to create history at the Santiago Bernabeu. He also insisted that he believes Mbappe will overshadow everyone's legacy at the Santiago Bernabeu. Zidane said, as quoted by Madrid Xtra on X (formerly Twitter):

"Mbappe is here now. He will make history and I think he'll surpass everyone."

Kylian Mbappe has been a long-term target for Real Madrid and the Whites made several attempts to secure his signature in the past. The France captain was agonizingly close to joining them in the summer of 2022 before changing his mind and signing a new deal to stay at PSG.

Mbappe played a key role in helping France win the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and has enjoyed plenty of success at club level too. The versatile forward scored 256 goals, provided 108 assists in 308 appearances for PSG and won a total of 15 trophies.

Kylian Mbappe responds to his favored position at Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe has insisted that he is prepared to play in whatever position the manager wants him to upon joining Real Madrid. The Frenchman was unveiled as Los Blancos' latest summer signing earlier this week.

During his stint at AS Monaco and PSG as well as for the national team, the Frenchman has played in multiple positions. On being asked where he would like to be deployed at the Santiago Bernabeu, Mbappe insisted that he had no preference in terms of playing position.

Mbappe said, as quoted by Madrid Xtra on X (formerly Twitter):

“Where do I want to play? I can play everywhere in attack. I will adapt to what the coach asks.”

Carlo Ancelotti's side won the La Liga title as well as the Champions League last season and Mbappe's arrival will make them even stronger.
