“I think there’s no one better than him” - Ex-Barcelona hero backs Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr to win Ballon d'Or
Former Barcelona star Neymar has once again backed compatriot Vinicius Jr to win the Ballon d'Or this year. The Brazil international thinks there is no one better the Real Madrid star and thus he deserves to win the prestigious award.
Neymar also addressed his relationship with Vinicius Jr while highlighting that the latter had gone through a lot to reach where he has. He said (via MadridXtra):
"I love Vinicius. We have a beautiful relationship. He's a great friend that football has made me know. He had a wonderful season, I surely support him to win the Ballon d’Or. I think there's no one better than him. Vini deserves it, he's a fighter, he suffered a lot throughout his life. He surpassed all the criticism and now he's an idol, a great hero for us."
Neymar had extended his support to the Real Madrid forward earlier this year as well and said (via FotMob):
"Vinicius had a fantastic season. I love him. I will root for him to win the Ballon d’Or. I think there is no one to win it but him. We are with Vini. He deserves it because he's a fighter who suffered a lot throughout his life but he surpassed all the criticism. I'm very happy he is carrying the Brazil flag around the world."
Vinicius Jr played a key role in Real Madrid winning the UEFA Champions League last season. The winger was also a key figure as Los Blancos won the league title under Carlo Ancelotti.
Brazilian legends back Real Madrid star to win the Ballon d'Or
Brazil legends Cafu and Dida have also backed Vinicius Jr to win the Ballon d'Or this year. They believe the forward had a great last season and deserved to take home the prestigious award.

"Yes, he deserves to win it, he's had a great season. The numbers he had last season were incredible. He deserves it for what he's done and what he will do in the future."
Dida opined:
"Vinicius is a great kid, a great player, a top player. He did very well last year, he scored goals, he gave assists, that's why. If he wins, it's because he deserves to win it because he did very well, we hope he manages to win this Ballon d'Or."
