“I told Flick that I’m angry” - Barcelona star Lamine Yamal opens up on rumours of discontent following Alaves clash

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has cleared the air about what happened with him during his side's LaLiga meeting with Alaves on Sunday, October 6. The forward appeared to have been incensed after he was taken off in the second half of the 3-0 win away from home.

Yamal has become a fixture in the Barcelona XI aged just 17 as he has demonstrated, time and again, the qualities that make him one of the world's best. Hansi Flick has given the youngster a key role in the side, starting him in all but one of their games this season.

Lamine Yamal looked annoyed to have been substituted in the second half of the game against Alaves, despite his side being 3-0 up. The Spain international clarified the situation with Radio Nacional, sharing that he spoke with Hansi Flick about his annoyance.

“I was not happy with my match vs Alaves… I could’ve played better. I demand a lot from myself. The anger was more to do with how I played rather than the substitution. It was with myself. I told Flick that I’m angry because of myself," he said via Fabrizio Romano.

Yamal was mostly on the periphery of things against Alaves. The teenager attempted just one shot in the game, generating just 0.03xG and 0.09xA, while creating one chance. He was on the pitch for 67 minutes before Ansu Fati replaced him.

Lamine Yamal has been one of the most important players for Barcelona this season with five goals and as many assists in 11 appearances across competitions. La Blaugrana lost the only league game he did not start by a 4-2 scoreline against Osasuna. However, he scored after coming off the bench.

Lamine Yamal showers praise on Barcelona teammate Robert Lewandowski

Lamine Yamal has praised Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski for his terrific start to life under Hansi Flick. The 36-year-old Poland international has been in fine form for Barca in the 2024-25 season.

In an interview with Radio Nacional, Yamal spoke about Lewandowski's qualities. The youngster praised the former Bayern Munich star's fine form, revealing that the rest of the squad is happy with his displays.

“Everything you give him he puts in. We are very happy for him.”

Lewandowski scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 win over Alaves on Sunday. He has recorded 12 goals and two assists in only 11 appearances across competitions this season.
