Trincao highlights Messi and Ronaldo's common traits

Francisco Trincao has revealed that both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are extremely hard workers and have an unquenchable thirst for success.

Having won a combined total of 12 Ballons d’Or since 2008, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the two most decorated players in the business. Granted, they have not been at their very best this season, but we still have had quite a few glimpses of their undeniable brilliance.

The 22-year-old Barcelona loanee is one of the very few lucky individuals who have played with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The Portugal no. 7 is, of course, his compatriot, while the Argentine played alongside him at Barcelona over the 2020-21 campaign. When asked to share the common traits of the two modern-day greats, Trincao promptly highlighted their work rate and insatiable desire to win.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder revealed:

“It's a lot of work, it's a lot of quality. It's really good to watch them play and I try to learn the maximum I can. They work a lot, people don't know how hard they work. It's the main thing that I learn from them. I think the biggest thing they have in common is that they want to win, every time and in everything.”

Ronaldo scored more league goals on Saturday than Messi has all season

On Saturday evening, the no. 7 scored a sensational hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur, securing a crucial win for Manchester United in the Premier League. The treble saw him take his league goal tally to 12 for the season, comfortably emerging as the Red Devils’ leading scorer in the division.

Lionel Messi, on the other hand, has only scored twice for PSG in the French top-flight: Ligue 1. His uncharacteristically quiet performance in front of goal has drawn harsh words from his critics.

I will still pay to watch Ronaldo even if Messi is playing a free game.

Ronaldo is not only a footballer but also an entertainer.

He is the reason we all watch football. He is the reason football is football.

To make matters worse, the Argentine was nowhere to be found in PSG’s dramatic Champions League last-16 elimination to Real Madrid. Not only did he miss a penalty in the first leg, but he also failed to inspire his side when they were struggling in the return leg.

With Paris’ Champions League aspirations over for the season, the 34-year-old will need to produce something magical in the league to keep critics at bay. His arch-rivals match-winning hat-trick should give him enough motivation to do just that when PSG meet Bordeaux on Sunday afternoon.
