“I’ve gone sensible” - Rio Ferdinand predicts winner and scoreline for Euro 2024 final between England and Spain

Former England defender Rio Ferdinand predicts a win for the Three Lions against Spain in the Euro 2024 final in Berlin on Sunday (July 14). Gareth Southgate's side are into successive European Championship finals for the first time, having lost to Italy on penalties at the Wembley three years ago.

Both the Three Lions and La Roja needed come-from-behind 2-1 wins to book their place in the title match. Southgate's side needed a Harry Kane penalty and substitute Ollie Watkins' 90th-minute winner to down the Netherlands in Dortmund.

Meanwhile, a Lamine Yamal wonderstrike and a Dani Olmo deflected effort (off Jules Kounde) gave Luis de la Fuente's side victory over France in Munich a day earlier.

Predicting the winner of the Sunday clash, Ferdinand simply said on the Legends Lounge:

“I’ve gone sensible. England 2-1 Spain in 90 minutes.”

It's pertinent to note that the Three Lions haven't won a major tournament since the 1966 FIFA World Cup win at home. Meanwhile, La Roja are looking to break a tie with Germany and become the first four-time winner of the European Championship.

England striker Harry Kane and his Spain counterpart Dani Olmo are in a six-way tie atop the Golden Boot leaderboard heading into the Euro 2024 final. Unlike the two, the four other players cannot add to their tallies, as their teams are out of the competition.

In six games, Kane has contributed three goals, with two of them coming in the knockouts. While one came in extra time in the 2-1 win over Slovakia in the Round of 16, the other came in the 2-1 semi-final win over the Oranje.

Meanwhile, Olmo has also scored thrice but in one fewer game than Kane. The RB Leipzig hitman also has two assists as he looks to help his team win a record fourth Euro title.

While both Kane and Olmo scored in the semi-final, only one of them will be smiling at the end of the game. Is the Euro 2024 title going to Spain or 'coming home' to England?
