"I watch them a lot" - Chelsea star reveals he is studying Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah videos to improve performance
Chelsea star Noni Madueke has revealed that he has been meticulously observing clips of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Kylian Mbappe and Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah.
The English forward admitted that he is studying their videos in a bid to improve his finishing. Madueke said (via the Evening Standard):
“I look at the best. James Ryder, our analyst, clipped up Mbappe and Salah, so I watch them a lot. The way they always follow their pass into the box, or when a team-mate is in the box, they’re always there to anticipate."
He added:
“One thing I’ve got to add to my game is the easier goals, the one-touch goals - that’s what I’m trying to improve. I know I go at such a pace so sometimes I’ve got to calm down at the last moment, take a breath and then slot it away. I’ve just got to keep working so I can do it when I get back to Chelsea.”
Madueke featured in the England Under-21s' thrilling 9-1 win over Serbia on Thursday, October 12. The striker bagged a brace in the encounter as Jaden Philogene and Liverpool's Harvey Elliot also scored twice.
Chelsea signed Madueke from PSV Eindhoven this summer for nearly £30 million. The England youth international has so far not had the start he wanted to life at Stamford Bridge. He has registered just 44 minutes of Premier League action for the Blues this season spread over three appearances due to a muscle injury he sustained in September.
Madueke did, however, get his first start for Mauricio Pochettino's side in the Carabao Cup against AFC Wimbledon on August 30, scoring a penalty in the encounter.
"A very good chance" - Journalist names one position Chelsea are likely to reinforce in January
The Athletic's David Ornstein has provided an exciting transfer update regarding Chelsea. The English reporter has claimed that the Blues are likely to bring in a striker in the January transfer window.
Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja are currently battling it out to be the West London outfit's main forward. The Blues signed Jackson from Villarreal for £30 million this summer, and he has scored thrice so far in nine matches across competitions.
Ornstein, however, reports that Chelsea will look to bolster their options up front in the winter transfer window. He told The Athletic:
“There is a very good chance of this happening. They have Jackson and Broja, so let’s see how they both do. But it would not surprise me if Chelsea recruit another top striker.”
Chelsea will next face Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on October 21 after the international break.
