“I won’t go with anything crazy” - Alan Shearer predicts result of Arsenal vs Leicester City
Premier League legend Alan Shearer has predicted the result of the upcoming clash between Arsenal and Leicester City. The Gunners will welcome the newly promoted Foxes to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, September 28.
The Gunners have picked up three wins and two draws in their first five league games this season, having conceded only three goals. They are widely seen as title contenders, along with Manchester City, and will look to match up to the label when they face Leicester.
Alan Shearer has predicted a strong win for the Gunners in their upcoming match, telling Metro (via Football365):
"I can’t see Arsenal being as defensive in this one as they were for the second half at the Etihad! It’d be a huge surprise if Leicester took a point back. I can’t see it happening with the form that Arsenal are in and the confidence and belief they’ll take from last week’s result. I won’t go with anything crazy, I just see a convincing home win.”
In the Premier League season so far, Leciester City have held their own as a newly promoted side. They currently sit in 15th place, having played three draws and endured two losses in their first give games. However, they will be looking for their first win against the Gunners, despite how unlikely it may seem.
Mikel Arteta bemoans Arsenal injury situation, with number one goalkeeper potentially out of contention
Arsenal are expected to sit near the top of the table when the season ends, but that task will be made difficult with the absence of some key players. Most notably, goalkeeper David Raya could be out of contention for the Gunners for their Leicester clash.
Mikel Arteta revealed as much to reporters in the press conference ahead of the game, saying (via Football365):
“We don’t know yet. He’s got a muscular injury.”
Raya isn't the only injured player, with Oleksandr Zinchenko also out of contention. it is uncertain if Ben White will be available for the game, alongside Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard remains on the sidelines since the last international break, along with new signing Mikel Merino. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are both out as well, with the former a doubt for the game. Leandro Trossard is not injured, but following his red card against City, the forward will be suspended for the game.
