"I am worried about the situation" - Former Real Madrid star believes Ancelotti will not be able to turn situation around at Los Blancos
Former Real Madrid forward Predrag Mijatovic believes Carlo Ancelotti may not be able to turn things around at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Italian manager is under pressure following two back-to-back home defeats against Barcelona and AC Milan.
It is the first time since 2009 that Los Blancos have lost two consecutive games at home while conceding a minimum of three goals, according to Opta. The LaLiga giants signed Kylian Mbappe this summer, but have struggled to impress so far.
Speaking on Cadena SER, Mijatovic remained skeptical about Ancelotti's ability to motivate the current Real Madrid squad.
"The feeling I have is that the team has gotten out of hand for Ancelotti. With the changes he has made, he didn't know where to take the team or how to react," said Mijatovic (via Goal).
He continued:
"In addition to the two to three splendid years they have had, the time has come that the team has relaxed a little. Solutions? Very few. I don't know if he has the capacity to react and restart the situation to motivate the players."
Mijatovic added that he is worried about Ancelotti's situation at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"There are players who are unhappy, who play less than they thought. Then, the press asks for more minutes for [Arda] Guler and Endrick. [Jude] Bellingham started very well and now he is not as fine [Kylian] Mbappe and Vinicius [Jr.] want to play on the same wing...," said Mijatovic.
He concluded:
"I am worried about the situation. Ancelotti cannot tell his players 'you have to do what I say'. He is listening to too many opinions and does not have a position as he did in other years."
Real Madrid are second in the LaLiga table after 11 games, nine points behind Barcelona, who have played a game more.
What is Carlo Ancelotti's record with Real Madrid?
Carlo Ancelotti first took charge at Real Madrid in the summer of Real Madrid in 2013, following Jose Mourinho's departure. The Italian manager won the Champions League, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup during his first stint at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, his inability to win the LaLiga title in two seasons ultimately proved to be his bane. Los Blancos let him go in the summer of 2015 and appointed Rafael Benitez as his successor. Ancelotti had registered a 74.79% win ratio in his first stint, winning 89 of his 119 games in charge of the LaLiga giants.
The Italian manager returned to the Santiago Bernabeu for his second stint in 2021, following Zinedine Zidane's exit. He has a 69.68% win ratio in his second stint, registering 131 wins in 188 games so far.
Since taking charge in 2021, Ancelotti has guided Real Madrid to two LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey, two Supercopa de Espana, two Champions League trophies, two UEFA Supercups, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
