"I wouldn’t even buy him for £1m" - Frank Leboeuf believes Chelsea have a player who is a 'lost cause'

Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf is opposed to the price the Blues paid for Mykhailo Mudryk's services. The Frenchman laid into his former club for buying a player he believes offers nothing.

The west Londoners signed Mudryk from FC Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for a reported £88 million. The Ukraine international has failed to meet his expectations and received a lot of criticism for his performances.

Leboeuf feels the 23-year-old is of little value to the Blues and said he wouldn't even pay £1 million for his services. He said (via Football365):

“Mudryk has no value anymore – he’s a lost cause and Chelsea won’t make any money on him. He is so raw and he’s not getting better under many managers – there’s no improvement. Who would want to buy Mudryk? I wouldn’t even buy him for 10 million at the moment. In fact, I wouldn’t even buy him for £1m. Why would you want to spend money on a player who is not in any way productive?"

Mudryk has registered 58 appearances in all competitions since he arrived at Stamford Bridge, contributing just seven goals and four assists. He has struggled to cement his place in the starting XI under different managers at Stamford Bridge.

"My frustration is now turning to anger" - Frank Leboeuf says Chelsea are 'becoming a mockery' and demands 'results'

Frank Leboeuf slammed Chelsea's hierarchy and said he's extremely vexed with the club's lack of results in recent times. The Frenchman insisted that the West London outfit has become a shadow of the club it used to be.

The Blues saw a massive decline in form during the 2022-23 campaign after Todd Boehly and a consortium of investors purchased the club. They finished 12th in the Premier League that season and saw three different managers at the helm.

Speaking about the current state of his former club, Leboeuf said:

"My frustration is now turning to anger. Chelsea change coaches but they are not thinking differently. I try to stay neutral – even when Chełsea play Man United – but I have to be professional.
"Chelsea as a football club is just not working and we are becoming a mockery for other clubs. We live in the present and not the future; fans want results, and I want results; I don't want to wait four years to get them."

Despite showing turbulent form last season, the Blues finished sixth in the league under Mauricio Pochettino. However, the club's owners parted ways with the Argentine and have now appointed Enzo Maresca.
