“If you don’t feel it, stay at home” - Guardiola sends message to Manchester City superstars involved at Euro 2024 after starting pre-season

Pep Guardiola has sent a message to players at Manchester City who were involved at Euro 2024 and Copa America. The Spanish tactician has made it clear that he would rather have them back fully refreshed than show up on tour with the club while being fatigued.

The Cityzens have headed across the pond to New York, where they are currently on tour for pre-season. However, not all Manchester City players were on board the plane that left England. The Cityzens are without players like Kevin de Bruyne, Rodri, Kyle Walker, Julian Alvarez, and Phil Foden, all of whom partook in tournaments this summer.

This is not a problem for Pep Guardiola, who revealed that their rest is important. He said to the press (via GOAL):

“I said for them to come back when they have the desire to touch a ball again. If you don’t feel it, stay at home. Because it’s so long. Maybe some days before or after the Community Shield. That’s the plan.
"We will suggest they do something before they arrive. I am more concerned they have energy and are happy to be in the locker room and training sessions. Then we say come back and welcome. I don’t want them to come back exhausted. It’s better if they stay at home a few more days.”

Pep Guardiola will be hoping to have his players back in full strength as Manchester City's Community Shield clash against Manchester United draws near.

FA reportedly want to give Pep Guardiola England job if he leaves Manchester City

Manchester City are making preparations to retain their stronghold at the helm of the Premier League. They have notably won the title four years in a row and they will be looking to stun other clubs and retain the trophy for the fifth straight time.

Much of their success has been attributed to Pep Guardiola, who has been in the job for nearly a decade. The manager is now in the final year of his contract at the club.

While the Cityzens will be working to elongate his deal, an exit could be in the works. If he does leave, rumors (via GOAL) reveal that the England FA would be willing to give him the head coach job.

This comes after Gareth Southgate, who led the Three Lions to two consecutive Euro finals, resigned from the position. The English manager had been hoping to lead them to their first trophy since 1966 but was unable to do so, as they lost the Euro 2024 final to Spain.
