“If Lamine wants to play the final, he will have to do more” - Adrien Rabiot challenges Lamine Yamal before Euro 2024 semi-final

France midfielder Adrien Rabiot has challenged his Spain counterpart Lamine Yamal ahead of the Euro 2024 semi-final in Munich on Tuesday (July 9).

Yamal has been one of the breakthrough stars of Euro 2024 and one of Spain's best players in the tournament. However, Rabiot reckons he must do more if he wants to play the final.

The Frenchman said in the pre-match post conference ahead of the Euro 2024 semi-final.

"We'll try to get Lamine Yamal out of his comfort zone. If he wants to play the final, he'll have to do more than what he has done so far." Rabiot said. (via Barca Times on X)

Following their 2-1 extra-time victory against hosts Germany in the Euro 2024 quarter-final this weekend, Spain are one of the favourites to win the tournament. They have been consistently good, being the only team to win all five games, with Yamal being one of their attacking strengths.

Meanwhile, France are widely considered having an underwhelming campaign. Although they made the semi-finals, they haven't scored from open play in five games.

However, France are still one of the contenders and could be a formidable opponent for La Roja, who are grappling with the unavailability of key players due to injury or suspension.

Lamine Yamal has been one of the best players for Spain at Euro 2024, with three assists in five games.

Although he's yet to open his account, he has been key to the Spanish attack due to his immaculate ball control and ability to run across the length of the pitch. He's also good at providing decisive crosses into the opposition box.

Lamine Yamal has also kept alive the iconic tiki taka style of game play likely because of his La Masia roots and combined that with his generational dribbling ability.

Yamal has provided assists against Crotia in the group stage, Georgia in the Round of 16, and Germany in the quarter-final.

According to Opta Jose, Lamine ranks third among players for creating the most chances at a single edition of the Euros with 14. He's preceeded by Xavi Hernandez with 25 (Euro 2012) and Cesc Fabregas with 18 (Euro 2008).

In the semi-final against France, Lamine Yamal's prowess will be tested by France left back Theo Hernandez, who is known for his physicality and pace. The 16-year-old will look to come good as La Roja seek a record fourth title.
