“If Ronaldo reads it, I’m going to” - England attacker tells fiancé to bring him book recommended by Cristiano Ronaldo in Euro 2024 camp
England forward Anthony Gordon has said that he asked his fiance to bring him a book recommended by Cristiano Ronaldo at Euro 2024. The Newcastle United man revealed that he believes in a holistic approach and would be keen to read what the Portuguese legend reads.
Ronaldo is one of the most successful and influential players of all time. The 39-year-old is still going strong after two decades and is an inspiration to many young players, Gordon included.
Gordon shared with BBC Radio 5 Live how he learned about the book, Life Force by Tony Robbins.
“Tom Heaton was talking about Ronaldo at the table the other day and said that was the book he was reading and had suggested to the Man Utd lads.
"I was earwigging about the stuff he was saying, what’s good for the body, and I was thinking, ‘If Ronaldo reads it, I’m going to have a little read and see if I can pick anything out!’”
Cristiano Ronaldo is playing in a record-extending sixth Euros at Euro 2024 and has had a prolific club career with 759 goals and 238 assists in 1013 appearances and a further 130 goals and 46 assists in 208 appearances in international football.
Gordon will hope to take something from the book and add to his career stats of 44 goals and 29 assists in 213 games.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal battle to victory against Czechia in Euro 2024 opener
Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal battled from going a goal down to secure a 2-1 at Czechia's expense in their Euro 2024 opener on Tuesday (June 18) in Leipzig. The win allowed the Portuguese to keep pace with Turkey and take a step closer to qualification for the knockouts.
The match began with the Portuguese having the better opportunities in the first half, but the 2016 champions could not bury their chances. The Czech Republic made it into the break unscathed before drawing first blood.
Vladimir Coufal cut a pass to Lukas Provod in the 62nd minute, and the Slavia Prague midfielder curled a shot into the net to stun Portugal. A Selecao restored parity quickly, needing just seven minutes to force an own goal from Robin Hranac after persistent work in the box by Nuno Mendes.
Portugal kept knocking on the door and had a goal ruled out in the 87th minute after Cristiano Ronaldo was found to be offside in the build-up. Francisco Conceicao, though, grabbed the winner in the 92nd minute to help the Portuguese secure victory in their Euro 2024 opening game.
