"If we want Mbappé to be happy we have to hit Neymar" - Samir Nasri reveals main reason behind PSG superstar Neymar's vilification
Samir Nasri has hit out at the media for the Neymar protest from PSG fans. He believes that reports of the Brazilian being pitched as an enemy to Kylian Mbappe have made fans think that they need to vilify the former to keep the Frenchman happy.
Neymar was subject to a protest outside his house last week, with PSG fans demanding that he leave the club. The Ligue 1 side condemned the actions of the group of fans and tightened security outside the players' houses.
Nasri was talking on Canal Futbol Club when he claimed that the Brazilian was only being attacked by the fans because of the media. He said via Onze Mondial:
"It's all the fault of the press. We opposed Neymar to Mbappé, so today if we want Mbappé to be happy we have to hit Neymar. But Neymar is the one who carries the team at the start of the season."
Emmanuel Petit dismisses PSG trio claims
Emmanuel Petit has dismissed claims that Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe cannot play together at PSG. He believes that the trio is capable of leading the attack and winning trophies, as long as they have a team ready to fight behind them.
He told Legal Sportsbooks:
"I work on French radio every single week and two weeks ago we had a big, big fight because of that issue. Former players saying 'we are tired with Messi' and that 'he should leave the club'. I said on the radio 'how can you criticise Messi? Do you think Messi is the problem at Paris St-Germain?' Messi just won the World Cup with Argentina."
He added:
"How can you play with Messi if you don't build the team around him? You can build a team with Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar but if you don't have the proper players behind them… So I disagree."
PSG are looking to sell Neymar this summer, while Lionel Messi is set to leave as a free agent.
