“If that is what he wants” - Germany sporting director comments on possibility of Jurgen Klopp becoming next manager
Germany sporting director Rudi Voller has weighed on the possibility of former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp taking charge of the national team. The former German striker has insisted that Klopp would be an obvious choice as the next manager of the Deutschland if an opportunity arises.
Voller has heaped praise on Klopp who is widely regarded as one of the best managers of the modern era. The ex-Werder Bremen and AS Roma striker has acknowledged the fact that Julian Nagelsmann might want to return to club football in the near future.
Speaking to ZDF’s Sportstudio, Voller said, as quoted by Daveockop:
“There is no need to hide the fact that Jurgen Klopp has an incredible CV. If Julian were to decide at some point that he wanted to take over a top club in Germany or Europe again, there would be no way past Jurgen, that’s for sure. If that is what he wants.”
Jurgen Klopp decided to call time to his nine-year stint as Liverpool manager this summer, highlighting his urge to take a break. The Reds have appointed Arne Slot as his successor who has enjoyed a pretty strong start to life at the Merseyside club, winning five of his first six games across competitions.
Klopp cemented his legacy as a manager with his stints at Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. He won five trophies as Borussia Dortmund boss while leading Liverpool to eight trophies.
Liverpool legend heaps praise on Arne Slot comparing the Dutchman to Jurgen Klopp
Former Liverpool winger John Barnes lavished praise on Arne Slot, comparing the new Reds boss to his predecessor Jurgen Klopp. The former England international insisted that the Dutchman has taken the good things from Klopp and added to them.
Barnes said in an interview with Sky Sports:
"He's taken all of the good elements from Jurgen Klopp but also added his own."
Barnes was full of praise of Slot previously as well as he said on the Rest is Football podcast:
“They’re playing a much slower build-up, many more passes from the back... As much as he’s changed the way we play in possession…out of possession, we’re still closing down."
Slot has enjoyed a brilliant start to life at Anfield having won four of his first five Premier League games in charge. Liverpool also secured a 3-1 win against AC Milan in their Champions League opener after going 1-0 down early.
