“Is he aware of the club he joined”, “What happened to PR training” - Fans react after Tottenham star says Spurs want to win league next season
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall has caused an uproar among fans with his comments during an interview ahead of the new season. Spurs have assembled a talented squad to prepare for 2024-25 after a disappointing end to the 2023-24 season.
Swedish midfielder Bergvall chose to join Tottenham rather than Barcelona when both clubs came calling in February. He spent the remainder of the 2023-24 season back at Djurgarden before teaming up with his new club for pre-season this summer.
Lucas Bergvall has featured prominently for the Premier League side in pre-season as Ange Postecoglou aims to get the best out of his young side. The 18-year-old spoke about his ambitions in joining the club and what he hopes to achieve this season, and he revealed that he dreams of winning the Premier League.
The extent of his ambition was amusing to many fans, seeing as Tottenham has had to endure a 16-year trophy drought. They took to X to share their thoughts on his plans to lift the Premier League.
One fan wrote:
"F***ing hell, what happened to PR training."
"Is he aware of the club he has joined," wrote another.
There were several other reactions from fans, including one who joked that Bergvall was unaware of where he has come to.
"He wasn't informed abi😂," wrote a fan.
Another fan attributed the comments to his youth.
“He is young”, forgive him for his sins."
A fan wrote that Bergvall would be lucky to win even the Carabao Cup:
"You’ll be lucky if you even win the Carabao Cup😭."
Another fan called him delusional.
"Delulu," the fan posted.
A fan designated the youngster as being ignorant.
"Bless his soul he doesn't know 😭," he wrote.
Lucas Bergvall has taken the number 15 shirt and is one of many players staking their claim for a place in Postecoglou's squad this season. Fellow teenager Mikey Moore is another, while 18-year-old summer signing Archie Gray has also impressed.
Tottenham star joins Champions League side
Tottenham Hotspur forward Bryan Gil has completed a loan switch to La Liga outfit Girona until the end of the season. The Spain U-21 international has failed to impose himself since he arrived in England and has now moved back to Spain.
Girona are in the process of strengthening ahead of a first-ever season in the UEFA Champions League. They have already signed Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek from Manchester United before signing Gil on loan.
Bryan Gil has signed a deal with the Spanish outfit, with the deal including a €15 million buyout clause for the winger. The 23-year-old joins Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in securing an exit from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
