France national team head coach Didier Deschamps provided an update on whether Kylian Mbappe will be available for their upcoming clash against the Netherlands in Euro 2024. The match will take place on June 21 at Red Bull Arena, Leipzig.
The Blues captain suffered a nose injury in their Euro 2024 1-0 win in their opener against Austria on June 17 at the Merkur Spiel Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany. During the last minutes of the match, Mbappe had a bad collision with Austrian defender Kevin Danso and fell to the ground with a bleeding nose.
Later, the French Football Federation (FFF) provided an update on Mbappeās nose. They mentioned that the 25-year-old forward had suffered a nose fracture and would have to wear a mask for medical purposes when he will return to the pitch.
About Kylian Mbappe's availability for the upcoming Euro 2024 match, head coach Didier Deschamps said (via RMC Sport):
"Everything is going in the right direction after a major shock that he has had with the consequences of course. Yesterday, he was able to go out and do some activities. That will also be the case tonight. It's moving in the right direction to make sure it can be available tomorrow."
France have claimed the UEFA European Championship twice, in 1984 and 2000. Their win against Austria on Monday marked their sixth consecutive victory in the opening match of a major tournament. It is also the longest run maintained by any European nation.

Kylian Mbappe has scored 47 goals and provided 34 assists in 80 appearances for France. He helped the Blues to win the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 UEFA Nations League title. However, incredibly, he is yet to net a goal in the Euros.
