IShowSpeed sends message to Cristiano Ronaldo after Portugal crash out of Euro 2024
Hardcore Cristiano Ronaldo fan and popular internet personality IShowSpeed has sent the player a message following Portugal's Euro 2024 exit. The Portuguese were eliminated by France in the quarter-final on penalties (5-3) after a goalless draw in 120 minutes in Hamburg on Friday (July 5).
Although Ronaldo converted his penalty, Joao Felix's miss in the shootout proved costly for Roberto Martinez and Co. Speed, who posted a clip of watching the penalty shootout on Instagram, was seen slamming the walls and table around him in frustration.
He seemingly injured his hand in the process and posted an image of that on X (formerly Twitter), captioning it:
"Goodbye Ronaldo."
Even in the aforementioned video, Speed can be heard yelling while crying his eyes out:
"That's his last game bro. He ain't ever coming back. That's his last game. He ain't ever coming back. He's not playing in the world cup bro. Why did he have to lose?"
Ronaldo is 39, and this could well be his final major international tournament. The 2026 World Cup is two years away, and although the Al-Nassr striker is in top shape, it's unlikely that he will feature in that competition.
Moreover, his current club contract runs out in the summer of 2025. If he decides to call it a day in club football, it could well mean that this is the last of Ronaldo on a significant international platform.
He has made 212 appearances across competitions for Portugal, bagging 130 goals. The former Manchester United man also won the European Championships with his nation in 2016, beating France 1-0 in the final in extra time.
How did Cristiano Ronaldo fare in Portugal's final game at Euro 2024?
It wasn't the best ending for Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal at Euro 2024. It was made even worse with Ronaldo failing to influence proceedings in the defeat to France. Overall, he managed 40 touches of the ball and recorded an 81% passing accuracy.
However, he failed to find the net after managing two shots in the entire game, with one of them finding the target. In five appearances in Euro 2024, Ronaldo failed to score and assisted just once.
Against Les Bleus, he won just two of his seven aerial duels but emerged victorious in two of three battles on the ground. He lost possession on nine occasions and conceded three fouls.
