IShowSpeed sends message to ‘legend’ Cristiano Ronaldo after penalty miss vs Slovenia

Hardcore Cristiano Ronaldo fan IShowSpeed left a comment on the former's Instagram post following Portugal's Round-of-16 win against Slovenia (July 1). Roberto Martinez's team had to dig deep and win 3-0 on penalties after playing out a goalless draw in regular time.

They did have the chance to sneak ahead during extra time after being awarded a penalty. The man who is usually clinical from the spot, Ronaldo, had his effort saved by Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

However, the Al-Nassr striker managed to put things right by converting his spot kick in the shootout. He stepped up by taking the first penalty for his side. After the night, Ronaldo shared images from the match on Instagram and wrote in the caption:

"Unexplainable moments. Let's give it our all! Thank you."

Replying to this, IShowSpeed left a heartfelt message of his own and said in the comments:

"Whatever happens, nothing will diminish the greatness of this legend."

With his team through to the Quarters, Portugal and Ronaldo will be gearing up for a difficult final-eight match against France. The game between these nations is scheduled to take place on Friday (July 5).

There will still be concerns over Ronaldo's form in this year's European Championships. Although he's bagged an assist in the tournament, the former Manchester United man is yet to find the back of the net.

Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly admitted that even he's human after missing a penalty against Slovenia in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024. To date, he's bagged 130 goals in 211 appearances across competitions for Portugal.

However, even one of the greatest footballers of all time proved that not everything comes easy. Speaking about his penalty miss, Ronaldo said after the match (via Mirror):

"Even the strongest people have their (bad) days. I was a rock bottom when the team needed me the most."
"Sadness at the start is joy at the end. That's what football is. Moments, inexplicable moments. I feel sad and happy at the same time. But the important thing is to enjoy it."

Despite his poor form, Ronaldo will be expected to bounce back and find the net for his side against France. He's the highest goalscorer in Euro history, with 14 strikes to his name from 29 appearances.
