"It was a day full of emotions" - Georgina Rodriguez recalls Cristiano Ronaldo's last day at Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo's partner Georgina Rodriguez recalled the Portuguese icon's last day at Real Madrid in the recently-released Season 3 of her Netflix documentary, I Am Georgina. Ronaldo left the Spanish giants in 2018 to join Italian side Juventus after a successful nine-year stint at the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo's last game for Real Madrid was the 2018 UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool on May 26, 2018. Los Blancos won the match 3-1, picking up their third consecutive UCL title alongside being their 13th title overall. He had scored his final goal for the club a week before on May 19 in a La Liga clash against Villareal.
In her Netflix docuseries I Am Georgina, Ronaldo's partner Georgina Rodriguez recalled the day fondly, saying (via TeamCRonaldo):
"I remember the last time we came to the Bernabeu, me and Cristiano. It was a day full of emotions. Cristiano was sad and happy at the same time because they won two titles at that time and it was his last day at the club."
Ronaldo's last season at the Bernabeu saw him win two major trophies, the UEFA Champions League and the Supercopa de Espana. Additionally, he also won the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup with the club.
In 438 appearances for Los Blancos, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 450 goals and recorded 131 assists between 2009 and 2018. The Portuguese talisman found the net 26 times in his final season and remains their all-time highest-goalscorer.
When Cristiano Ronaldo revealed he misses Real Madrid more than Manchester United
Speaking on stage after receiving the Marca legend award in 2019, Cristiano Ronaldo shared that he missed playing for Real Madrid. He was playing for Juventus at that time.
The Al-Nassr star was interviewed by a group of kids during the event. In a heartwarming incident, one of the children confessed he was upset about the forward leaving Los Blancos. The conversation went like this (via Managing Madrid):
Kid: "It makes me sad that you left Madrid."
Ronaldo: "Me too."
Another child asked Ronaldo which of his two former clubs he misses more: Manchester United or Real Madrid. The legendary forward did not hesitate to pick Los Blancos and explained:
“I miss both of them, but I spent more time at Real Madrid and my family grew up here so I miss Madrid more. It wasn’t easy to leave Madrid after nine years.”
After leaving the Bernabeu in 2018, Ronaldo played for Juventus before returning to his boyhood club Manchester United in 2021. However, his exit from Old Trafford was not a pleasant one as clashed with manager Erik ten Hag before heading to his current club Al-Nassr in January 2023.
