"It was a difficult decision, but 100% the right one" - Moises Caicedo explains why he rejected Liverpool for Chelsea
Moises Caicedo has stated that the decision to reject Liverpool for Chelsea was the right decision. He claims that the Blues made a move and stuck with him for months, which tilted the field.
Caicedo said to the media that Liverpool are a big side and it was a difficult decision to reject their offer. However, he believes that the move to Stamford Bridge is the right one despite the season he had and said via Goal:
"It was a difficult decision because you know Liverpool is a big team. But Chelsea were with me for a couple of months and I felt like I couldn't miss this move. They were with me in tough times when Brighton didn't want to let me go. It was a difficult decision, but 100% the right one."
He added:
"The beginning was tough for me, because you are at a big club, the price, you always have to win every game. It was tough for me because when I was in Brighton, the pressure is less. At Chelsea, it is different. I felt a lot of pressure because you know the club, the history, the players who were there. But after the last four or five months, I felt more comfortable at the club."
The Blues paid a record £115 million to sign Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer. Liverpool had agreed on a record deal of over £100 million too, but the midfielder rejected the move.
Moises Caicedo claims he is happy with Enzo Maresca's system at Chelsea
Moises Caicedo has said that Enzo Maresca's system at Stamford Bridge is very similar to the one he played at Brighton under Roberto de Zerbi. He claimed that he wants to be the boss on the pitch and said (via Goal):
"He plays like the same system that I played in Brighton. He wants the same. He wants me to show my quality, to have a good personality, and to show to my teammates that I am the boss on the pitch. For sure, I will be a good player with him."
Chelsea have played four pre-season matches and won one. They drew to Wrexham, lost to Celtic, beat Club America and then lost against Manchester City.
