"It is disrespectful towards Manchester United and me" - Thomas Frank slams rumors linking him with Red Devils job
Brentford manager Thomas Frank has dismissed the rumors linking him with Manchester United, claiming that the reports are "disrespectful". As per the Daily Mail, Frank is a leading candidate for the Red Devils as a replacement for Dutch manager Erik ten Hag.
After Brentford suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of United at Old Trafford on Saturday, Thomas Frank addressed the reports linking him to Ten Hag's job. He said (via Tribal Football):
"I think it's disrespectful towards Manchester United and me. It is of course flattering, but it belongs to the world of football that you do what you can to keep the noise away and focus on what I am employed for."
Frank was appointed as the manager of the Bees after Dean Smith left the side in October 2018. In his third season (2020-21) as the boss, he helped Brentford secure promotion to the Premier League.
Former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel was also linked with the managerial job at Manchester United. However, earlier this month, he took charge of the English national team following Gareth Southgate's exit after the 2024 European Championships.
Manchester United to sign 22-year-old as Luke Shaw's replacement: Reports
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Norwegian defender David Moller Wolfe, as per TEAMtalk. The 22-year-old defender currently plays for Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar. He joined Alkmaar in July 2023 from SK Brann and has since made 56 appearances for the Dutch side, bagging one goal and four assists.
As per Fichajes, Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on the 22-year-old ahead of the winter transfer window. He's expected to cost between €12 and €15 million. The Red Devils see David Moller Wolfe as a potential replacement for Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, who haven't featured this season due to injuries.
Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot has started as the left-back for Erik ten Hag's side this season on most occasions. Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca's Chelsea are reportedly willing to offload Ben Chilwell and Moller Wolfe could be an upgrade on the English defender.
