"It would be his dream to go there" - Liverpool star Luis Diaz's father admits the Reds star is a 'loyal' fan of La Liga giants
Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has been at the center of a recent revelation from his father, who shed light on the player's admiration for Barcelona.
This follows a challenging period for Diaz, whose family was recently entangled in a distressing kidnapping ordeal. Fortunately, his father was safely released a week ago and was present to witness Diaz's remarkable performance for Colombia during the international break. The Reds forward notably scored twice against Brazil, helping his country to a 2-1 win.
Diaz has also been a consistent contributor for Liverpool, salvaging a crucial point in a recent match against Luton with a late goal. He has been in good form, scoring thrice in the Premier League and once in the Europa League this season.
There has been some speculation about Barcelona's potential interest in the talented forward. Due to this, Diaz’s father was queried about the possibility of his son's future move to Barcelona. The older Diaz candidly acknowledged the winger's support for the Catalan team, telling Win Sports (via Sport Witness):
“Truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment. It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there. So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him."
“Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world.”
Liverpool are in the race for Kylian Mbappe's signature
According to a recent report by Football Insider, Anfield has emerged as a potential destination for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe. This development follows speculations from Spanish media outlet Cadena SAR, highlighting Real Madrid's financial constraints in pursuing the Frenchman (via Liverpool.com).
Despite the Spanish giants' long-standing interest in Mbappe, their current financial situation might stop them from making a competitive offer. This scenario has opened the door for other clubs, including Liverpool, to swoop in.
While the idea of the Reds securing Mbappe's services might seem far-fetched, it cannot be entirely dismissed. Although he would be leaving Paris on a free transfer, securing his signature would entail significant financial commitment, given his stature and market value. Apart from the Merseyside club, other Premier League outfits like Chelsea, known for their financial muscle, are also in the fray.
