"It is the most iconic celebration in football" - Real Madrid star names Cristiano Ronaldo's 'Siu' as his favourite celebration
Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior has said that he loves club legend Cristiano Ronaldo's 'iconic' Siu goal celebration. Ronaldo first took out the celebration more than a decade ago and has used it regularly since then.
Meanwhile, Vinicius is in the midst of a solid season for Los Blancos, contributing 23 goals and 11 assists in 38 games across competitions. He has already helped them to the Supercopa Espana and La Liga titles and now eyes the UEFA Champions League as well.
Ahead of the final with Borussia Dortmund at the Wembley in London on Saturday (June 1), Vinicius talked about Ronaldo's iconic celebration and more in an exclusive interview with GOAL. Asked about his top three favourite celebrations of all time, the 23-year-old replied:
"Without a doubt Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Siuuuu. I’d say it is the most iconic celebration in football. But I also like the dance moves from NFL players and celebrations with the fans."
Vinicius has been a key player for Carlo Ancelotti's side who seek their second La Liga-UEFA Champions League double in three years. Victory in the final this weekend will be Los Blancos' record-extending 15th triumph in the competition.
A look at Cristiano Ronaldo's record with Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo is a bonafide Real Madrid legend, thanks to his stellar exploits for the La Liga giants during his near decade-long stint between 2009 and 2018.
In 438 games across competitions, the Portugal captain amassed a staggering 450 goals, averaging an unbelievable 50 goals per campaign. Ronaldo's stay at the Santiago Bernabeu yielded four UEFA Champions League and two La Liga titles, among a multitude of domestic and continental honours.
Ronaldo won four of his five Ballon d'Or awards while he was at Los Blancos, whom he departed in the summer of 2018 to join Juventus. Six years later, he's at Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr, whom he joined on a free transfer in December 2022.
The 39-year-old is coming off a 50-goal season - including 35 in the league - a record in a Saudi Pro League campaign. He will look to add to that tally when Al-Nassr take on Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal in the King's Cup final on Friday (May 31) in Jeddah.
