“It looks like I was right” - Ralf Rangnick reacts to Manchester United struggling under Ten Hag this season

Former Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has spoken about the side's struggles under Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils have lost two of three games in the Premier League this season despite strengthening their squad in the summer with new additions.

The club has struggled for a number of years, particularly since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, and have gone through a number of managers. Ralf Rangnick took charge as interim manager in 2022 and raised some points about the state of the club before leaving.

Currently in charge of the Austrian national team, Ralf Rangnick spoke about Manchester United's struggles this season, stating that his earlier statements had been proven true. He pointed out that Ten Hag has echoed the same thoughts in recent weeks.

Rangnick said (via Mirror):

“I probably made that statement when the season was almost over about two years ago. It is probably only two or three weeks since Erik ten Hag was asked the same thing. Then he said that I was right in my analysis. I don’t know how many players they have signed since but it looks like I was right.”

Erik ten Hag led the Red Devils to a fourth-place finish in the league in the 2022-23 season, his first in charge of the club and also won the Carabao Cup. His second season saw the club regress on the league front, finishing a record-low eighth and missing out on Europe. The Dutch manager led the side to the FA Cup, winning a second title in as many seasons.

Manchester United decided to stick with Ten Hag over the summer despite rumors about the club's owners looking to appoint someone else. The Dutch manager has been saddled once again with the task of leading the club to success but appears to be struggling.

Manchester United identify PL star for summer transfer - Reports

Manchester United have set their sights on Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze as they have commenced plans for next summer, as per Manchester Evening News. The Crystal Palace man has been tipped to leave the club, having impressed greatly since moving there from QPR.

Now under the full control of INEOS, the Red Devils plan on moving for four new players to further strengthen their squad. One of their targets is 26-year-old Palace star Eze, who has already scored once this season.

Eberechi Eze was linked with a move to Manchester City last summer but no bids arrived for the player. The talented attacking midfielder will be a great player to compete for a starting berth with Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford. He has a release clause of around £68 million in his contract at Selhurst Park.
