“It’s almost like an audition for him” - Paul Scholes names Manchester United star who may have already gotten Ruben Amorim's approval

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Amad Diallo could become an important player under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. The Sporting CP manager has been appointed Erik ten Hag's replacement and will take charge of the Red Devils on Monday, November 11.

Diallo was on song for Manchester United on Thursday, November 7, against PAOK in the Europa League. The Ivorian forward scored both goals as the Red Devils won 2-0, which, interestingly, was their first win in Europe this season.

After the game, Scholes pointed out that Diallo had given a great audition for Ruben Amorim.

“I think it’s almost like an audition for him [Amad], almost in that no.10 role. It looks like he’s been playing mostly… he has been wide a little bit. I think out of a quiet bunch, he has probably been the best of them,” Scholes told TNT Sports.
"We said at half-time, the first 20 minutes he looked the sharpest player on the pitch and he went on to prove that in the second half. He has been a little bit in and out this season but there's competition for places and now he's come in and has made a real stake for that position and probably deserves to start at the weekend after that," he added.

Manchester United have done well under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, winning two and drawing one of their three games across competitions. They will next face Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday, November 10, the Dutchman's last game as interim manager.

Amad Diallo has registered three goals and one assist from 15 games across competitions this season for Manchester United. Eight of those have been starts, with the 22-year-old battling Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for a place in the team.

However, on Thursday, Diallo gave a timely reminder of why he deserves more time on the pitch. It was the youngster's first start for the Red Devils since the defeat at the hands of Porto at the beginning of October and he made the most of it.

Amad registered five shots, three dribbles, and one key pass. He attempted one cross and 32 passes, with a 62.5 percent completion rate. The 22-year-old was also impressive with his work off the ball, registering three tackles.

Diallo is expected to retain his place in Manchester United's starting XI for this weekend's game against Leicester City.
