"It’s also my fault" - Ruben Amorim makes worrying claims about Manchester United after Newcastle United loss

Head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that Manchester United are in a relegation fight in the Premier League this season. He added that they were in a difficult situation and should not hide from reality.

Speaking to the media after the 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United on Monday, December 30, Amorim stated that Manchester United were in one of the toughest stages of their rich history. He urged the players give it their all in the next match and said (via Metro):

"That is really clear and we have to fight. It is a really difficult moment, one of the more difficult moments in the history of Man United and we have to address it with honesty and to be clear with that, we have to fight next game."

When quizzed if the club were in a relegation fight, the manager added:

"Yeah. It's also my fault in this moment. I think the team is not improved. It's a little bit lost in this moment. It's a little bit embarrassing to be Man United coach and lose a lot of games but we have to cope with difficult moments in life. It's a hard moment.
"I'm responsible, I don't like to arrive here and make excuses. I think people are tired of excuses in this club. That's why I talk about relegation because I think our club needs a shock. We have to understand that it's a very difficult moment and we have to fight for the next game and implement the ideas to win games."

Manchester United are 14th in the league table after their loss to Newcastle United. Alexander Isak and Joelinton scored the goals as the Red Devils crumbled to a 2-0 loss on Monday night.

Ruben Amorim blames fixture schedule for Manchester United form

Ruben Amorim has claimed that he has not managed to get Manchester United to play fluently in his system because of the lack of training. He stated that the matches were coming in thick and fast and thus it was difficult for them to prepare well for his tactics.

He said:

"In this moment it is really tough to turn around results because we don't have a lot of time to train the base of the way we want to play. In the bad situations you need that base to hold on to. In the second half they really tried, it was more like the value of the team. We were close to scoring once but they were better."
