"It's coming home" - Germany legend who won World Cup and European Championship makes bold England prediction for Euro 2024 final

Euro 2024 has reached its climax with England and Spain preparing for the all-important final on July 15. German legend Jurgen Klinsmann has shared his verdict on who he thinks will take the cup home on the night of the final.

In the ESPN FC podcast on July 12, Klinsmann stressed the importance of form in a team's success in crunch matches. Although Spain were the 'best team of the tournament,' the German legend focussed on the fact that the English side have found momentum just at the right time in Euro 2024.

“We totally agree that this Spanish side is the best team of the tournament so far. But this actually doesn’t matter anymore on Sunday night. Only the momentum matters [in the final]. England just came back [in form] at the right time for this special game on Sunday," Klinsmann said.

When asked to give his prediction for the Euro 2024 final, Jurgen Klinsmann forecasted a 2-1 victory for Gareth Southgate's men.

“2-1 to England. It’s coming home,” inferred the German.

The English registered a perfect comeback against Ronald Koeman's Netherlands after going 0-1 down within the first ten minutes courtesy of a right-footed bullet by Xavi Simmons.

Harry Kane equalized in the 18th minute from the penalty spot and the match hung in the balance until the final seconds of the game. In the 90th minute, substitute Olle Watkins scored the goal to take England 2-1 up and into the finals.

On the other hand, Spain's prodigal youngsters guided the side to a 2-1 victory over France. Similar to England, the Spanish team were trailing 0-1 within the first 10 minutes but came back to equalize and go 2-1 up inside the first half before holding onto the lead to win the match.

England's last major silverware came in 1966 when they won the FIFA World Cup under the captaincy of Bobby Moore. Despite the past disappointments, English legend Gary Lineker thinks that Gareth Southgate's team will make history on July 15 and will outsmart the Spanish side to finally bring the Euros home.

"This is going to be tough, it's going to be difficult, but they're on the brink of history. No English team in football has ever won a major tournament abroad," commented Lineker via BBC on July 11.

He continued:

"Yes, they started slowly and something wasn't quite right about things but they've worked it out and they've got gradually better as the tournament progressed. It's much better that way round," he added.

Harry Kane's side has struggled to score with freedom in the bulk of their matches in Euro 2024. However, they have always had individual brilliance cropping up from different team members when it has mattered the most.
