“It’s gonna come really soon” - Kylian Mbappe sends strong message to Real Madrid teammate following Dortmund display
Kylian Mbappe has backed Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham to end his goal drought soon. It came in the wake of Los Blancos' 5-2 emphatic victory in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday (October 22).
Carlo Ancelotti's men rallied from a two-goal deficit in the first half to clinch a highly-spirited victory in Round 3 of the UEFA Champions League.
Goals from Lucas Vazquez, Antonio Rudiger, and a sublime second-half hat-trick from Vinicius Junior were enough to seal the big win for Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, one player who would have hoped to get on the scoresheet for Los Blancos was Bellingham. The English international is still in search of his first goal in the 2024-25 season. He provided an assist and had a passing accuracy of 95% (40/42), though he missed two big chances against Dortmund.
Reacting to the game, where he played 89 minutes before making way for Arda Guler, Bellingham took to his Instagram handle, with a post that read:
"Power of Bernabeu! Finishing practice for me tomorrow."
Mbappe was quick to show support for the 21-year-old midfielder, reassuring him that the goals will come soon. The Frenchman wrote:
"It's going to come really soon don't worry."😉
Carlo Ancelotti pleased with Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham despite goal drought
The Los Blancos manager has said he is satisfied with Bellingham's performance this season, despite the player failing to find the back of the net for the Spanish giants.
Much has been said about the player's shocking goal drought this campaign, as he managed an impressive total of 23 goals and 13 assists in 42 games during his debut season for Real Madrid last campaign.
Meanwhile, head coach Ancelotti has played down talks about Bellignham's goal drought, suggesting that the effort that the England international puts in for the team is enough. He said (via ESPN):
"We're satisfied with his work, I'm very satisfied. He works a lot, he's always present, he competes, he fights, he sacrifices himself. It's true he hasn't scored the goals he scored last year, but the surprise isn't this year, the surprise was last year, when he scored lots of goals which nobody expected and helped us a lot. The problem this year isn't that we're lacking Bellingham's goals."
Ancelotti concluded:
"We've always scored goals, and we'll always score, because we have talented players up front. For us, in this moment, the work he's doing is more important than the goals the scored last year."
Next up for Real Madrid and Bellingham is a home game against arch-rivals Barcelona in the much anticipated El-Clasico fixture on Saturday (October 26). Bellingham, who scored three goals against Barca last season, will hope to replicate a similar performance this weekend.
