"It's a phrase I've been carrying with me ever since" - Ex-Juventus star recalls advice Cristiano Ronaldo gave him during Serie A stint
Cristiano Ronaldo's former teammate at Juventus, Kaio Jorge, has revealed the advice the superstar gave him during their brief time together at the Serie A giants. Jorge joined the Turin-based side in the 2021, the same year the five-time Ballon d'Or winner left to rejoin Manchester United, for a reported €7 million from Santos.
Jorge played only 125 minutes across 11 appearances for The Old Lady before joining Cruzeiro Esporte Clube this summer for a reported €7.2 million. Speaking about his time with the Italian giants, he remembered the advice the legendary forward gave him, saying via Flash Score:
"I've been so lucky. And I learned a lot from him, even though we were together less than two months. He was very friendly and helpful with me. I will never forget what he told me one day in the gym: 'It is from preparation that opportunities arise.' It's a phrase I've been carrying with me ever since."
Jorge has been solid this season. The 22-year-old has scored 10 goals and three assists in 40 games. He is contracted to the club until the summer of 2028.
"In my opinion he deserved to win the Ballon d'Or" - Cristiano Ronaldo weighs in on controversy
Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he believes Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior should have won the 2024 Ballon d'Or award. The Brazilian superstar was phenomenal for Los Blancos and scored a goal in the UEFA Champions League final to help the team to the LaLiga and Champions League double.
Vinicius scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists in 40 games last year. His performances saw many name him as the favorite to claim the Ballon d'Or award in October.
Ronaldo shared that sentiment, telling The Globe Soccer Awards via 90Min:
"In my opinion he deserved to win the Ballon d'Or. It was unfair, in my opinion. I say that here, in front of everybody. They gave it to Rodri. He deserved it too but I think they should have given it to Vinicius because he won the Champions League and scored in the final. The other issues, for me, are not important. When you deserve [it], you should give it to who deserves it. This is why I love Globe Soccer. They do an honest award."
Cristiano Ronaldo claimed the Ballon d'Or award five times during his playing career. At 39, the legendary forward currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. He has bagged 74 goals and 18 assists in 83 games for the Arabian side.
