"It’s really a more than positive progression" - Thierry Henry's comments on Leny Yoro resurface as he nears Manchester United move
France legend Thierry Henry's comments about Lille defender Leny Yoro, who is reportedly closing in on a move to Manchester United, have resurfaced recently. As per football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have agreed on a deal with Lille and the player to finalize the transfer.
As reports of Yoro to United continue to make rounds, Henry's comments about the defender from March earlier this year have caught attention. Previously the coach of the France under-21 side, the Arsenal legend handed Yoro his debut for the U21 team in September 2023.
Praising the youngster, Henry told Le Petit Lillois (via Manchester Evening News):
“We often talk about Leny. He is having an exemplary start to his career. To establish himself in Lille as he is doing… He always has some young reactions, and that is completely normal. It comes slowly, you make mistakes and sometimes you get embarrassed.
“(But) he goes on to play one match after another, he starts quite often and quite often is good. It’s really good for him. He is professional, he’s a good guy, well-educated. I like him. He performs well. Afterwards, there are always things to refine, but that’s completely normal. Frankly, it’s really a more than positive progression.”
Leny Yoro played four games for the France U21 side under Henry. The 18-year-old is yet to make his debut for the French national team, however.
