"It is useless to give him advice" - Brazil hero Romario tells Barcelona star to watch his videos and learn if he wants to 'make it' one day
Brazil hero Romario has jokingly advised Barcelona star Vitor Roque to watch his videos to take his game to the next level. Roque is currently on loan at Real Betis after a disappointing six months with the Catalan giants.
Vitor Roque joined Barcelona from Athletico PR in January earlier this year in a deal worth €30 million (as per Transfermarkt). However, the Brazilian couldn't nail a starting spot for himself in Xavi Hernandez's team and was eventually loaned out to Real Betis to continue his development.
Meanwhile, Romario appeared in a recent interview with Sport where he discussed a host of subjects. During the interview, the former Blaugrana forward was asked about comments made by Vitor Roque about him. Roque had said that Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini encouraged him to study Romario's playing style for inspiration.
The 1994 FIFA World Cup winner jokingly urged the 19-year-old and other players to watch his videos to improve their games. He said (via Barca Universal):
"No, it’s not just Vitor Roque, there are a lot of players who have to watch these videos to learn."
When pressed to give a piece of advice to Roque, the former Selecao forward responded humorously:
"It is not possible, it is useless to give advice to him or to others because they won’t learn, they have to keep watching the video always, always, always… one day they might make it."
Since joining Real Betis in the summer, Vitor Roque has made 14 appearances across all competitions, recording five goals. Meanwhile, Barcelona have gone from strength to strength since Hansi Flick took over the managerial post in the summer. They are currently leading the LaLiga table by six points.
Barcelona firing on all cylinders in La Liga
Barcelona have established themselves as the favorites to win the LaLiga title this season, ahead of Real Madrid.
As it stands, Hansi Flick's men sit atop the table with 33 points from 13 games, six points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, who have a game in hand. The Catalan giants have recorded 11 victories and two defeats in the Spanish top flight so far, scoring 40 goals and conceding 12.
In their next LaLiga game, Barcelona will take on Celta Vigo at the Balaidos Stadium on Saturday, November 23.
