“It will be scary”, “Madman” - Alejandro Garnacho and Manchester United teammates react as Rasmus Hojlund describes his hunger for new season
Alejandro Garnacho was one of several Manchester United teammates who echoed Rasmus Hojlund's sentiments about next season. The Danish frontman is hungry for the new campaign and posted a telling Instagram post.
Hojlund posted a snap of himself tucking into a T-bone steak while enjoying the off-season. He captioned it:
"This is how hungry I am for the season to start."
Hojlund is raring to go following Denmark's elimination from Euro 2024. He encountered a mixed debut season at Manchester United, hitting 16 goals and two assists in 43 games across competitions.
The pacey forward isn't the only Red Devil star looking forward to next season. Many of his teammates responded to his post in the comments section, with Garnacho warning rivals:
"It will be scary but not for us."
Former United captain Harry Maguire took a more amusing approach:
"I hope that’s blackcurrant in that glass."
Mason Mount will also be relishing a fresh start after a frustrating debut season. He dubbed Hojlund:
"Madman (laughing faces)."
Lisandro Martinez advised Hojlund not to get too carried away:
"Enjoy your holidays and stay calm."
Hojlund, Mount, and Maguire will be expected to link up with Manchester United for their pre-season tour of the United States. They will be in action against Norweigan outfit Rosenborg BK on Monday (July 15).
Garnacho and Martinez won't be part of that squad, as they'll be fresh off a Copa America final. The duo are part of an Argentina side that faces Colombia on Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.
Garnacho will miss Argentina's Olympics participation to join Manchester United for pre-season
Garnacho's availability for Manchester United's pre-season tour this summer has been a hot topic of speculation. Argentina wanted the tricky Red Devils winger to participate in this summer's Olympic Games.
The Premier League giants resisted La Abiceleste's request to allow the 20-year-old to attend the Olympics in Paris. Erik ten Hag wants his squad prepared for the new season following a tumultuous 2023-24 campaign.
Garnacho will not represent Argentina at the Olympics, as Javier Mascherano left him out of his squad. Once Copa America ends and a post-tournament rest period concludes, he'll join the Red Devils for their pre-season tour.
Their academy product was a standout performer last season, putting in dazzling displays. He bagged 10 goals and five assists in 50 games across competitions, moving to a makeshift right-wing role and excelling.
