Jadon Sancho explains why Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer will be 'fuming' despite scoring 4 goals in win over Brighton
Jadon Sancho shared that his Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer will be 'fuming' despite bagging four goals against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, September 28. Palmer was brilliant and created a Premier League record by scoring all four goals in the first half (21',28',31',41') of the 4-2 win.
Sancho, who joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United in the summer, felt Palmer would be disappointed for not adding to his tally of four goals against the Seagulls.
After the win at Stamford Bridge, Sancho told Chelsea's official website (via the Daily Mail):
"When you have a player in your team like Cole Palmer, then anything is possible, I’ve known Cole a long time, since our days together at City. I’ve always watched him and I always thought he would go on to be a great player. He’s showing that now at Chelsea."
"We see what he’s capable of each day in training, we see the quality he has and honestly, it’s no real surprise to me to see him score four goals. In fact, he could have scored five or six goals! I’m sure he will be fuming not to add to his tally but in all seriousness, he’s such a quality player," he added.
Cole Palmer has been a revelation since he joined Chelsea from Manchester City for a reported €47 million fee in the summer of 2023. He has bagged 31 goals and 19 assists in 53 games across competitions for the Blues.
Cole Palmer's reaction to scoring four goals for Chelsea against Brighton
Cole Palmer shared he was upset to miss his first chance against Brighton. The England international was the man of the occasion as he scored four times.
However, Palmer felt he could have had more goals to his name on Saturday.
Speaking with Match of the Day after the game, Palmer said via the Daily Mail:
"I should have had five or six,When I missed the first chance I was upset but with the way they played and their high line I felt we'd get more chances. The manager set up a good game plan, we knew how to attack them with first-time passes in behind. Brighton are a good team, pass the ball well. They play similar to us. Three points is what we needed and that is what we got. I try and play every game the best I can."
Palmer has scored six goals and provided four assists in eight games across competitions this season.
