Jadon Sancho sends 3-word message to Chelsea star Cole Palmer after the latter's showing in Brighton win
Chelsea summer signing Jadon Sancho praised teammate Cole Palmer following his four-goal haul against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, September 28. Sancho took to Instagram after the match and said he has no words to describe Palmer’s incredible performance.
Brighton and Chelsea gave football fans a treat as they played out a six-goal thriller that saw the Blues emerge victorious. However, Cole Palmer was the highlight of the match as he scored his side’s four goals before half-time, which consequently garnered him praise from teammates and fans.
Brighton drew first blood after goalkeeper Robert Sanchez miscalculated his move, which Georginio Rutter capitalized on to give the Seagulls the lead. Former Manchester City man Cole Palmer, however, responded with an 11-minute hat-trick to overturn the tie for the Blues.
Howls of derision from the Brighton supporters once again greeted Robert Sanchez as he made a horrendous error of judgment, which Carlos Baleba capitalized on to reduce the deficit. Palmer restored his side’s two-goal lead before half-time, courtesy of a perfectly weighted assist from Jadon Sancho.
The second half was less chaotic as Chelsea adopted a pragmatic approach to secure all three points on the afternoon. After the match, Sancho took to Instagram to express his excitement about making his first appearance at Stamford Bridge and registering his third assist since moving to the West London. He also gave credit to Palmer for his amazing performance. He wrote:
''Special afternoon to make my first appearance at the bridge! +3’’
Sancho followed it with:
''@colepalmer...no words needed!
Sancho was incredible against Brighton as well. He won eight duels, completed seven take-ons, had three touches in the opposition box, and created one chance. He has assisted in every Premier League game he has played for Chelsea.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca says Cole Palmer is a "top player" after the win against Brighton
Enzo Maresca lavished praise on Cole Palmer after Chelsea's 4-2 win against Brighton. The Italian manager claimed that Palmer is a top player and that his personality remains unchanged despite dishing out incredible performances.
After the match, Maresca said (via GOAL);
“I said to Cole that he scored four goals, but he could have scored two or three more. It’s good that he continues to be hungry, ambitious. I know Cole from many years ago, I had him for one entire season with the under-23s at Manchester City. The best thing he has is that in the way he is today as a boy, he was three or four years ago. So goals, assists, best player of the Premier League — this doesn’t change who he is. He is a simple guy, a humble guy, and this for me is the most important thing.”
"He is a top player. Today in football, young players change very quickly. They score one goal and think they are already (a star). Cole scored many goals, many assists, he’s a top player but he never changes, and that is the most important thing."
Maresca added:
“Already in his life, many good things happened as a professional to give him the chance to change, but he didn’t change. That means he is probably always going to be the way he is. He is a special player, a super guy, a humble guy. He doesn't need to tell people how good he is.”
